Elephant News from Botswana

Botswana is home to the world’s largest elephant population — over 130,000 strong. While that’s a success for conservation, it also brings new challenges as elephants roam further in search of food and water.
In recent years, droughts and toxic water sources have tragically caused mass die-offs, with more than 350 elephants lost in a single season. Changing climates are making water scarcer, and the balance between people, farmland, and wildlife is more delicate than ever.
At Mott’s Leatherworks, elephants are part of our story. As a former guide, Mott has seen these giants up close, and their presence continues to inspire our respect for the land. Our commitment to conservation is shaped by their survival, reminding us that true craftsmanship must walk hand in hand with care for the wild.
